Acer laptops have been the talking point for all good reasons but as the pros, cons are quite unavoidable. Though the concern we are discussing here is not particularly a disadvantage but the users want to switch to another Operating system (OS) where they feels more comfortable.

Switching from one OS to another is exciting to hear but can be quite complex to ensure all of the drivers are present in the system is a massive and very terrifying task. What most people are afraid of is not the formatting part but they are particularly more scared about the drivers being missing after the formatting process is done. Drivers like video, LAN, wireless, Chip set, etc. is difficult to find online and it is quite impossible to work without these device managers. Let the Acer Repair break it down for you:

Firstly, to install another Operating System, you have to format the existing OS from your laptop:

  • Start > All Programs > Acer > Acer eRecovery Management
  • Go to Restore tab and click on "Format"
  • Click "Yes" and then click "Start"
  • Confirm if the power adapter is connected to your laptop
  • Click "OK" to restart and the Acer eRecovery Management will format the hard drive and next proceed to installing Windows 7 in your PC

NOTE: You should be aware that the entire process might take longer that you have expected, it might take 1 hour or even more.

Install Windows 7 In Acer Laptop:

  • Plug in your USB drive with a working windows system. Now, when you switch on the computer, locate your USB and right click to select the format option.
  • Format the drive with ‘FAT’ file system which has a minimum 256 MB in capacity.
  • Next download the attached zip file from it “AS1_BIOS_3309.ZIP
  • Then press and hold Fn+Esc and thus, the LED will be blinking all way long.
  • Now, extract the files on the USB Flash Drive and don’t forget to turn off the Laptop which you do so. Also in many cases, power adapter and battery are poorly maintained to be well connected.
  • Next, press the Power button and it will initiate the BIOS update.

NOTE: Do not interrupt during the entire session.

  • Approximately in 2 minutes or more, the power LED will stop blinking and your laptop will get a reboot.
